CAT SYNC

Privacy Policy

Effective October 16, 2026

CAT SYNC is designed to work without a CAT SYNC account. This policy explains the information used by the app.

Information stored on your device

Settings, bookmarks, setlists, recent choices, trial state, and duplicate-submission prevention receipts are stored locally on your device. CAT SYNC does not use these local records to identify you.

The tuner processes microphone audio live on your device; it does not record, save or upload the audio.

Song Deck network requests

From CORE 653, Song Deck asks you to participate before making catalogue requests. If you decline, Song Deck sends no catalogue or settings requests; the metronome and CATs remain available. After participation, song or artist search terms and Apple recording identifiers are sent to our service and Apple/iTunes to retrieve catalogue results and artwork. Preview audio is not fetched or analysed.

To prepare a song’s initial tempo and meter, public song metadata such as title and artist is sent to a web search provider. Initial settings and source links are cached per recording to avoid repeated searches. Audio is not sent.

Only settings you explicitly save for an Apple-linked song are submitted to the Community Deck: BPM, click pattern and Groove, together with the Apple track ID, event ID and a random installation participant credential. Unsaved edits and custom songs are not shared. The server stores a participant hash and the latest contribution per participant and recording, not the credential itself. For duplicate prevention it keeps only the event ID and a payload digest, not a full history of saved settings. The participant identifier is pseudonymous; it is not your name, email or Store account. Personal Bookmarks and Setlists stay on your device.

Optional rewarded ads

In iOS and Android versions that offer rewarded ads, CAT SYNC uses Google AdMob. Ads are requested only after you choose to watch an ad; they do not start automatically. Paid access has no ad offers. You can continue using the free basic features without watching ads.

During consent checks and ad use, Google may receive your IP address (to estimate a general area), device or advertising identifiers where available, ad views and interactions, and crash or performance diagnostics. These may be used to deliver and measure ads, prevent fraud, and personalize ads when permitted by your choices and applicable requirements. CAT SYNC does not request precise GPS location or send microphone audio, Bookmarks, Setlists or Song Deck settings to AdMob.

Where required, Google’s consent screen lets you manage your choices. When available, use ‘Ad privacy’ in Settings → Purchases to review or change them; your device may also provide advertising controls. Ad availability can depend on these choices. Declining ads does not restrict paid CAT access or free basic features.

Reward progress and access expiry are stored on your device. Only completed views confirmed by the ad SDK count. Incomplete progress resets the next local day; earned access begins immediately and cannot be saved for later. Google handles and retains ad information under its own privacy policy: Google’s advertising privacy information.

Purchases

Apple processes App Store purchases and Google processes Google Play purchases. CAT SYNC receives transaction and entitlement information needed to unlock features, restore purchases, and reflect refunds or revocations. CAT SYNC does not receive your payment-card number. Microsoft processes Microsoft Store purchases on Windows.

On Android, purchase tokens and product IDs are securely sent to CAT SYNC's Supabase backend and checked with Google Play to verify purchases, restore access and reflect expiry or revocation. CAT SYNC does not store purchase tokens. Your device stores the last verified access status, verification time and applicable expiry for offline use.

Feedback and support

The in-app feedback button opens an email draft in your mail app. The draft can include text you enter, device or host selection, app build, and user-agent information. Nothing is sent until you choose to send the email.

Service providers and retention

Community settings, participant hashes and contribution events are retained while needed to operate Song Deck. For abuse prevention, the service stores a daily HMAC-derived IP rate identifier and removes rate records older than two days; the community tables do not store raw IP addresses. Hosting/provider request logs may separately contain IP addresses and request metadata under their own retention settings. Support emails are retained as needed for support.

Rate-record cleanup runs when a later rate-limited request is processed, rather than on a scheduled timer.

Your choices

You can decline Song Deck participation and still use the metronome and CATs. Removing the app and its local data deletes local settings and the participant credential, but does not automatically delete server contributions. To request access or deletion, contact us using the address below; identifying the relevant contribution may be necessary.

To ask about access or deletion of information sent through support or Song Deck, contact catsync.info@gmail.com.

Children

CAT SYNC is not directed to children for the purpose of collecting personal information and does not require an account.
